About Us

We're just regular people who got tired of not having a clear answer to a simple question: what do I actually need?

It started when the Dutch government sent a 72-hour survival guide to every household in the country. We read it, went online to find the gear — and ran straight into a wall of fear-based marketing, overpriced "tactical" bundles and advice that didn't actually help anyone.

So we built Preps-R-Us. Not as doomsday preppers. Not as survivalists. Just as people who think having a few days of water, food and basic supplies on hand is... sensible. Like keeping a spare tyre in your car.

Every product we list is something we'd genuinely buy ourselves. We research everything, skip the fluff, and tell you what something does and whether it's worth your money. If it doesn't pass that test, it doesn't go on the site.

We earn affiliate commissions when you buy through our links — that's how we keep things running. We're upfront about it on every page, and it doesn't change what we recommend.

Who's behind this?

We're a small team based in the Netherlands, covering both Dutch and English-speaking audiences. Preparedness looks the same whether you're in Rotterdam or Rhode Island — the situations are universal.

What we care about

We'd buy it ourselves

If we wouldn't put it in our own cupboard, it doesn't go on the site. What we earn on a product doesn't factor into that.

Staying level-headed

The power goes out, a pipe bursts, the shops are closed. It happens. Not the end of the world — just something worth being a bit ready for.

Stuff that works

We skip the tacticool nonsense. Everything here solves an actual problem, and we'll tell you straight whether it's worth the money.

How we make money

Short version: we use affiliate links. You pay the same price either way. Here's the longer version.

The basics

When you click a product link and buy something, we get a small cut from the retailer. That's how we keep the site running — no ads, no subscriptions.

No extra cost to you

The price is identical whether you use our link or go to the shop directly. The commission comes from the retailer's margin, not your wallet.

Independent picks

Commission rates don't decide what we list. No paid placements, no sponsored reviews. If it's not worth buying, it doesn't go on the site.

Which programs?

On preps-r-us.com we mostly link to Amazon.com plus specialists like My Patriot Supply, Goal Zero and Berkey. On preps-r-us.nl it's Bol.com and Amazon.nl.
